Heroic youth rescues and shelters rare 'Diamond Eye' cat in central India
A rare cat was spotted on a tree of Betul's Sarni and was rescued by a heroic youth, Anubhav Singh, in central India's Madhya Pradesh on January 24.
Locals in the area are astonished to witness such a rare creature in their locality, and some even expressed their intention to purchase it, but the family refuses to give it away.
Doctors mention that this unusual breed is recognized as Khao Manee, which hails from Thailand, and is not usually spotted in the country. The members are seen feeding it fish while the people catch a glimpse of it.
When Anubhav was returning from Bhopal after a trip, he spotted this white cat on top of a tree, surrounded by dogs.
He drove all the stray pups away and rescued the creature. He took it home with him. When he arrived back in Betul, he noticed that the animal had two different eye colors; one was blue, and the other was golden.
He googled it and discovered that it was a rare species, recognized as Khao Manee, which costs around 5 to 7 lakh in India. But instead of giving it away, he began to raise it as his own and provided it with a safe shelter. They call it Hedge.
The Head of the Department, Sukhdev Dongre of the Biotechnology Department of Betul Jaywanti Haksar College, mentioned that the cat was usually found in Thailand, which has an ancient ancestry tracing back hundreds of years. These felines have different colored eyes due to a condition named Heterochromia iridium.
