A driver dozed off while speeding along the highway before crashing into an electric post.

CCTV footage shows the pickup truck drifting across the pavement before hitting the post in Rayong province, Thailand on February 6.

The security camera attached to the electric post lost its connection after the car hit but the incident was captured on another camera installed nearby.

One of the vehicle’s tail lights came loose due to the strong impact and was flung on the road.

Soon after the collision, the truck started to move again suggesting that the driver had gained consciousness.

Concerned riders and some onlookers approached the vehicle to help the driver out of the vehicle before calling the paramedics for help.

The driver was taken to the hospital to receive treatment for his injuries but no one had been hurt aside from him.

Noppadol, who lives near the area, said the man emerged from the wreckage and said he had fallen asleep at the wheel.

He said: ‘He said he had fallen asleep but did not say why. He would have to take responsibility for breaking one of the cameras. He was very lucky he survived such a terrible crash.’

The police were notified about the incident and started an investigation.
