Officials impose lockdown due to surge in Covid-19 cases in western India

Owing to the worsening Covid-19 situation, the officials decided to implement a lockdown in western India's Gujarat on April 13.

The incident took place in Una in the Gir Somnath district.

A video features a marketplace completely vacant and shut down due to the lockdown imposed by the authorities in the state. Following this, a few locals are spotted in the street while no one else appears out of their residence owing to the strict instructions.

The state of Gujarat was witnessing a surge in Covid-19 cases and deaths, following which the government and the municipality decided to impose a lockdown to break the chain of transmission. Moreover, the citizens supported this decision, and it has been implemented for six days, starting from Tuesday till Sunday.

Only medicine stores and hospitals are kept open, and rest all the day-to-day grocery shops have been closed. Furthermore, the dairy shops would be kept open for four hours a day for the locals.
