This is the amusing moment locals held an Olympics-style swimming race through floods after typhoon In-fa battered the Philippines.

Footage shows the men lined up before gliding forward in the deluge that submerged a basketball court near their homes in Cavite province after heavy wind and rain on July 24.

Onlooker Vience Caina captured the video while waiting for his order at a nearby cake shop.

He said: ‘This happened while I was waiting for the cake I ordered. I noticed that someone was diving into the court. When they started lining up like a contest, I started making videos. It was even more entertaining than watching the Olympics in Japan on TV.’

Typhoon In-fa, locally named Fabian, slowly headed to the East China Sea but continued to intensify with the monsoon maintaining heavy downpours across Luzon island. Dozens of people have since been killed in China where the typhoon caused floods.
