Blood-red floodwaters baffle residents during typhoon In-fa in the Philippines
Blood-red floodwater left residents confused during typhoon In-fa in the Philippines.
Footage shows locals wading on the bright red water during a heavy downpour at a village in Cainta, Rizal province on July 24.
Resident Diana May Dumaraos said: ‘We don’t know where exactly it came from but there was a nearby factory. It was the first we experienced a red flood though.’
Local officials later clarified that the red colour resulted when a textile factory was submerged and their dyes mixed with the water.
Typhoon In-fa, locally named Fabian, slowly headed to the East China Sea but continued to intensify with the monsoon maintaining heavy downpours across Luzon island. Dozens of people have since been killed in China where the typhoon caused floods.
