Tallest tusker takes part in Kandy Esala Perahera in Sri Lanka
Nadungamuwa Raja, one of Asia's largest tuskers, was spotted during the Festival of the Tooth in Sri Lanka on August 22. The incident took place in the Buddhist temple in Kandy.
Visuals feature the magnificent jumbo approaching the devotees in the temple, along with the priests, while the mammal is adorned with lights, colorful clothes, and many more items. The locals continue to sing songs while the tusker walks down the stairs, leaving people in a state of awe.
The 67-year-old Nadungamuwa Raja is a native of Mysore and takes part in Kandy Esala Perahera, also known as The Festival of the Tooth, every year. This historical procession is held annually to pay homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic of Buddha, which is housed at the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy. However, on the last day, the tusker had some issues with its leg during the auspicious day, but people took care of it and went through with the festival.
