This is the deadly scene in Chennai, India on Monday (November 8) as heavy rain over the last 48 hours has slammed the area and caused four people to lose their lives.

Knee-deep water has disrupted every aspect of life, making transportation a nightmare. Over 60 homes have been damaged across the region of southern India.

This marks the heaviest rainfall in Chennai since 2015.

Heavy rain battered Chennai on the second day on Monday, with the weather department warning that the downpour is expected to continue for another 48 hours. Normal life has been disturbed in Chennai with Flooded residential areas, waterlogged streets, and people wading through knee-deep inundation as heavy rain has disrupted day-to-day life in parts of the state.

Footage filmed on 8th Nov, shows the scale of damages, flooded streets, and rescue teams working to clear the waterlogging. As per the government official statement, four lives were lost in rain-related incidents in Chennai, Theni, and Madurai districts in the past 24 hours. At least 60 houses also suffered damage across the state and hundreds moved to relief camps.

Chennai received the heaviest rainfall since 2015 even as heavy showers continued to lash parts of the city and its suburban areas overnight. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for coastal districts in Tamil Nadu on November 10 and 11.
