Fishermen in Delhi are continuing to fish in the polluted Yamuna River despite the surface being covered in toxic foam.

Footage from November 9 shows fishing boats making their way through the river topped by a layer of froth.

The local government has issued a ban on fishing in certain parts of the river due to excessive pollution levels.

According to reports, the river water is extremely polluted making the fish is unfit for consumption. But fishermen say species like puthi and golden fish are still found in the river.

The toxic foam floating on the river is caused by increased ammonia levels and high phosphate content.
