Residents near a lake in southern India are reportedly deeply concerned by the appearance of toxic foam on the water source.

Footage captured at Pappangudi lake in Madurai in Tamil Nadu on December 11 showed a large build-up of white bubbles.

The lake, which is the most important agricultural water source in the area, is currently unusable and some locals have reported skin problems they blame on the foam, according to local media.

Madurai:- Huge amount of toxic foam develops near Pappangudi Pond after toxic water is mixed with the water body. Local residents worried about the huge toxic foam collected on the roadsides.


Pappangudi lake is the most important lake in Madurai and the water from this lake is used for agriculture. Especially in Madurai Jaihindpuram Avanyapuram and Perungudi area more than one hundred acres are cultivated with this water. But at present the lake is unusable for agriculture due to sewage and people in the area who use this water are said to be suffering from skin diseases
