Residents of Chhattarpur, Madhya Pradesh, were left panicked as a leopard strayed into the city on December 23.

CCTV footage shows the leopard running down a street before clips filmed during the day show the wild cat evading a team of forest officials.

Drones have been deployed to search for the on-the-run leopard.

A leopard strayed into the residential region, gripping the locals with an air of panic in central India's Madhya Pradesh on December 23. The incident took place in Chhattarpur.

Visuals feature the leopard running across the region after straying away from the forest cover. Following this, a team of forest officials swing into action and deploy drones to look out for the big cat that wreaks havoc in the area, running helter-skelter.

Panic ensues among the locals after spotting the leopard in their proximity. They immediately alerted the forest officials, who initiated a search for the stray, big cat. Moreover, the Divisional Forest Officer, Anurag Kumar, took charge of the operation himself, and the Panna Tiger Reserve has been alerted as well.
