Heavy rains that hit Jayapura, Papua from Thursday night to Friday (7/1/2022) in the morning caused flooding in a number of urban areas. A number of public facilities such as the TNI AD Marten Indey Hospital and schools were flooded.

Based on field observations, a number of points or locations in the city, namely the highway in front of the Papua Governor's office, and a number of other main roads, were inundated by waist-high water.

Road users, both four-wheeled and two-wheeled, are seen to be careful when crossing the area. Until now it is still not confirmed whether there were casualties or not.

BMKG also appeals to the public to remain alert and careful of the potential for extreme weather (heavy rain accompanied by lightning/lightning followed by strong winds, etc.) fall, and the road is slippery.
