House swept away by flash flood during heavy rainin the Philippines
This is the dramatic moment a house was swept away by a flash flood in the Philippines.
Footage shows the raging deluge carrying away the small wooden shack to a nearby river in Medina town, Misamis Oriental province on January 25. It was reportedly empty at the time, so no one was hurt from the incident.
Onlooker Madelyn Cadelina said kind locals later donated aid such as food supplies and sacks of rice to the family owning the house. She added: 'It's good that the flood didn't happen at night since there were young twins living there.'
Medina disaster official Raul Soriano Jr. said the flood was caused by a low pressure area that brought heavy rains to the area and caused surface runoff to flow into the town from the nearby mountains.
State weather bureau PAGASA said the weather system also brought scattered rains across the Visayas and Mindanao islands.
