A spurned Thai reveller who poured his drink over a girl who rejected his advances, suffered an embarrassing bout of instant karma when she turned out to be a Muay Thai boxer.

Chainarong Mareejan, 35, tried to clink his glass with pretty Pareploy Saeaia, 25, then asked for her phone number while they were eating at a street restaurant following a night of partying in Bangkok in the early hours of Sunday morning, February 6.

Pareploy rejected his advances and CCTV footage shows how he responded by casually walking over to her table and emptying a pint of beer all over her.

Chainarong was unaware that attractive Pareploy had been taking part in notoriously tough Muay Thai fights since she was 13, winning dozens of professional national competitions.

Furious Pareploy leapt from her seat and literally hit back, by yelling and offering the alleged attacker a chance to fight her 'if you're so tough'. As he walked away, she angrily launched several kicks at his legs and had to be held back by friends during the scuffle.

Footage of the incident emerged and Chainarong was sacked by his employer, the five star Swissotel, while police became involved and fined both of them.

Pareploy and Chainarong had to apologise to each other at the local police station and they both paid a 1,000 baht fine (30 USD). The man was fined 500 baht for pouring his beer on the girl and 500 baht for affray. The female boxer was charged 500 baht for assault and 500 for affray.

Speaking today, Pareploy said: 'I was angry because he assaulted me by pouring his drink on my head. Nobody has the right to humiliate me, or anybody else, like that. I was defending myself. But then I lost control of my emotions.'

Chainarong was sacked from his job at the prestigious hotel in the Ratchada area of the city. He apologised for the incident.

He said: 'I should not have done that to the girl. It caused the confrontation so I'm sorry for that. I regret what has happened.'

The Swissotel Bangkok Ratchada said in a statement: 'We don't support the actions that were seen in the video. He is no longer our employee and we have cut all connections with him.'

Police in the Huai Khwang district of the city said the case was now closed and no further action was being taken against those involved as they had both accepted the fine and apologised to each other.
