CCTV footage captures moment train derails and climbs platform
CCTV footage captured the moment a local train derailed and climbed onto a platform at Beach station in Chennai in the state of Tamil Nadu. The platform wall was damaged as the train crashed into it but luckily, nobody was injured. The train rake was empty as it was being moved from the yard to the platform when the accident took place, railway sources said. An official who was inside the rake jumped out on time without any injury. But the incident caused chaos at the station as many commuters ran in panic. An "enquiry will be conducted to assess the cause of the incident," said S Guganesan, Chief PRO, Southern Railway. A brake failure is suspected to be the reason for the incident.
