Flash floods swept a fire engine away with firefighters still inside in southern China.

Video filmed in the city of Shaoguan in Guangdong Province on June 19 shows cars being washed away by deep floodwater on a road.

The rapid floods also washed away a fire engine with a group of firefighters still inside.

According to reports, a fire engine with six firefighters was deployed to rescue residents trapped in the floods.

After the firefighters transferred a paralysed elderly man to a safe area and were about to drive to the next stop, the vehicle lost power and caused the water level inside to increase.

Since the firefighters could not evacuate, they stayed in the fire engine as it was swept down a road by the floodwater.

Finally, the fire engine stopped safely and no one was injured.

The floods did not cause any injuries, according to local reports.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
