Residents rescued after road collapses under them in China
Residents were rescued after a section of road they were on collapsed in southern China.
Video filmed in the city of Mianyang in Sichuan Province on July 11 shows a group of people using a rope to pull a woman up from the rubble of the collapsed road.
According to reports, the side of a road suddenly collapsed when residents stood on it to see the rise of a river's water level caused by a rainstorm.
Four residents fell down from a height of around 8 metres high. Fortunately, they all landed on the embankment and no one fell into the river.
No one was seriously injured and they were being treated.
The local government evacuated nearby residents and a cordon was set up.
The officials deployed someone to watch the scene overnight as well as organised workers and machines to repair the collapsed road.
