This artist in Padang, Indonesia, uses thousands of volts to create lightning-themed artwork.

Jarot uses an electric transformer that 2,200 volts flow through, creating the lightning streak effect on his wooded canvases.

The wood is covered in soda water which makes the wood burn. Once the wood has been engraved it is washed, sanded and varnished.

Jarot sells his art for £23 to £293 via social media.

A man named Jarot, a resident of the city of Padang, West Sumatra province, Indonesia, managed to create something very beautiful and valuable from utilizing a high-voltage electric current of 2,200 volts.

jarot said "I learned the technique of painting from electric current from youtube and I tried, although several times failed and finally succeeded" To create the painting, Jarot used a tool he designed himself from an electric transformer with two positive negative rods. "
