Furious mob attacks truck driver after crash killing schoolgirl, 5, and her uncle
This is the dramatic moment dozens of locals attacked a trucker who crashed into a crowd of locals allegedly killing a schoolgirl and her uncle.
The mob dragged driver Khun Pongsakorn from his vehicle's cabin moments after the deadly road crash in Bangkok, Thailand, this afternoon September 21.
Footage shows how the furious mob repeatedly punched him with police struggling to hold back the angry locals.
Police said that Pongsakorn was arrested and remanded in custody after killing the five-year-old schoolgirl, who has not been named, and her uncle. He also allegedly injured two other motorcycle riders in the drunken collision.
Police Colonel Duangchot Suwancharat said: 'We acted promptly after being informed about the incident. It was found that the driver's alcohol level did not exceed the legal limit but a further drug test will be done on the driver.'
Officers said that from the initial investigation at the scene, they found that the driver had travelled to the Rama 9 area of the capital city to collect construction workers.
However, when he arrived at the junction his brakes failed, causing the six-wheel truck to collide with other vehicles in front.
There were aroun24 workers sitting in the back of the truck. The left headlight of the car was broken and damaged.
Police Colonel Duangchot added: 'We will coordinate with road traffic accident experts to inspect the truck to see if the brakes actually broke or not.
'CCTV will also be used to assist in the investigation.'
