Disgruntled residents of Grassy Park in Cape Town, protested on old Strandfontein Road, by burning tyres and closing the road during peak hour traffic. The residents allege that Democratic Alliance councillor, Gerry Gordon, had informed more than 80 people that they would longer be eligible to start jobs in a community job scheme.

Riot police at the scene were able to push the protesters off the road. It was then announced that the councillor would meet the disgruntled residents at 10h30 tomorrow to resolve the issue. After an agreement was reached, the crowd dispersed.
