This is the heartwarming moment a pet cat tangled in tennis court net was rescued in Thailand.

The chubby feline was caught in the sporting equipment when he passed by an empty park at night in Bangkok on September 28.

It wriggled around to free itself but it only tightened the knot around the moggy's body.

After about an hour, a passing driver heard the creature's cry and pulled over to help release it. Footage shows the motorist using a flashlight and scissors to cut the net's ropes around the animal's body.

Driver Rose Rosarrin said: ‘Before we found the cat, we passed by the area an hour ago but it was empty. When we returned we heard loud meows and checked if a cat was in distress and we found it.'

When the scared cat was finally free, it ran away towards the bushes to hide but its rescuers let it off.

Rose added: ‘The cat did not look like a stray and appeared to be taken care of. Maybe the owners let it roam out at night for some cat time but then it was stuck on the net in its way home. Be careful in the future, cat.'

The cat was uninjured and scrambled towards an alley after the incident.
