241 cases of mysterious acute kidney failure were found in children, the Indonesian government stopped administering paracetamol syrup to patients aged 1-18 years in all health facilities in Indonesia.

Until now, it is suspected that the mysterious acute kidney failure is still caused by paracetamol syrup which contains ethylene glycol (EG) and details of glycol (DEG).


The Indonesian government has released to date cases of mysterious acute kidney failure have reached 241 children and approximately 133 people have died.

Not only that, the Indonesian government has released 102 items of paracetamol syrup for the time being, it cannot be given and sold.

To ensure that the appeal reaches drug stores, the Indonesian police check all existing drug stores, such as in the city of Padang, West Sumatra (Sunday, 23 October 2022).

Padang area police chief, Kombes Pol Ferry, please say "we are checking all drugstores to comply with the government's advice not to sell 133 paracetamol syrup items".

Meanwhile, the Indonesian health authorities advise health workers to give doses of paracetamol capsules to pediatric patients at this time which are adjusted to the dosage levels according to their age.
