A baby giraffe incredibly kicked a hunting lion off in midair after it had jumped on its back.

John Mbetsi was leading a tour through Kapama Private Game Reserve, South Africa, when a lion walked past his jeep stalking some prey in the road ahead.

Incredible footage shows the big cat sprint after a young giraffe that came bounding through the bush into the path.

The giraffe kicked out at the attacking lion and then launched it through the air after it tried to jump on to its back.

One commenter said: “That was cool how the two lionesses coordinated their attack like that even though it didn't work out.”
