The ranks of the Riau Police through the Ditreskrimum Sub-Directorate Team III succeeded in arresting five perpetrators of armed robbery who shot Panin Bank officers when they were about to refill money at an ATM on Jalan Tanjung Datuk, Pesisir Village, Lima Puluh District, Pekanbaru City.

This robbery took place on Sunday morning (5/3/2023), the perpetrators managed to get away with cash worth Rp. 100 million. Unfortunately, a Panin Bank money filling officer was seriously injured after being shot in the stomach by robbers.

After carrying out a series of investigations, the joint team of the Riau Police Jtanras and POM TNI finally arrested five perpetrators in different locations. Of the five perpetrators arrested, two of them are active TNI soldiers serving in West Java and Pekanbaru, namely Serma AW and Sertu ES. While the other three were civilians namely YP, WS and HW. Two perpetrators were arrested at the Jakarta Rambutan Terminal, two in the Subang area, West Java Province and one other perpetrator in Riau.

Riau Regional Police Wadirreskrimum AKBP Sunhot P Silalahi said four perpetrators were arrested when they fled to the West Java region and one of them was arrested in the Pekanbaru City area.
He said it was known that the perpetrators were not Pekanbaru residents. Where they deliberately came to Riau to commit these crimes.

"This perpetrator had previously come to Pekanbaru on February 28 2023, and had gone around to Kuansing, Siak, Pelalawan to look for victims. But there were no victims found there," he said, Wednesday (15/3/2023) evening during an expose at the Riau Police Headquarters .

"Then on the 4th they described the TKP (Panin bank ATM). And before acting, the car carrying the ATM money was followed," he explained.

During the robbery, an officer who filled in money became a victim of a firearm owned by AW, who is a member of the Indonesian Army. The Makarov type firearm was purchased by AW in 2017 at Tanjung Priok for Rp. 15 millions.

After carrying out their actions, said Sunhot, the perpetrators then divided the money from the robbery and fled to the West Java region. However, when it was secured, the money from the robbery, which was known to amount to Rp. 100 million, was not found.

The police only managed to secure a small amount of money.

"The evidence that we secured was a black Avanza car, a white Vixion motorbike, which was used by the perpetrator. Then from the hands of the perpetrator, he also confiscated a gun with several rounds of ammunition, then money. We also confiscated the hammer used by the perpetrator," he added.

The police have also confiscated bullet projectiles previously fired by the perpetrator at the victim.

"Meanwhile, the article that we apply is 365 paragraphs 1 and 2. The penalty is 12 years in prison," he concluded.
