Four injured as huge orange tongue of fire engulfs biogas plant reactor in Thailand
At least four people were injured after an enormous blaze engulfed a biogas plant reactor in Thailand today (April 25).
Dramatic footage shows a huge orange tongue of fire spewing from the Thai Biogas Energy Co Ltd factory in Surat Thani province.
Boonrueng Longlaluad, chief of the provincial disaster prevention and mitigation office, and firefighters rushed to the scene at 10.30 am to extinguish the inferno.
The flames were brought under control at around 12,20 PM after running out of fuel to burn. There were no casualties, but four people were injured, local media reported.
Authorities believe the plastic lid covering the gas production well had sprung a leak. Due to the reactor's internal pressure and the heat, the plastic is believed to have melted and ignited, causing the large fire.
The main factory was undamaged as the reactor was located away from it.
Boonrueng said the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
