A large python was found hiding inside a helmet left hanging on a motorcycle.

The serpent slithered into an employee's parked scooter outside an office compound in Prachin Buri province, Thailand on May 31.

After the work shift, the worker Khunphon returned to his two-wheeler but as the dog kept barking at it he inspected it first and discovered the snake.

Footage shows the 5ft-long reptile coiled inside the man's helmet placed on the vehicle's handlebar.

Khunphon said: ‘I usually just walk straight into my motorcycle and leave because I get out of work at night. If the dog was not there to warn me, the python might have hurt me.'

He called another worker to help and chased it away with a bat before the snake returned to the field.

He said: ‘We let it escape because there are really many snakes around here. I hope it doesn't return again.'

The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
