A crane delivered a rescuer to save a boy trapped in a blazing apartment in southern China.

The heroic video was filmed in the city of Langzhong in Sichuan Province on April 21.

Flames erupted in a 4th-floor apartment, trapping a young boy around 10 years old inside. As black smoke billowed out of the building, quick-thinking locals sprang into action before the fire brigade could even arrive.

Mr. He Shisong, the owner of a nearby restaurant, initially noticed the emergency when his wife shouted about the fire next door. He quickly ran outside to find heavy smoke pouring out of the 4th-floor window, with a small boy visibly distressed inside. He and several bystanders called out to the boy, urging him to press his face against the window to avoid inhaling smoke. "We were worried he would suffocate," Mr. He explained.

As the flames grew fiercer, and the crowd below became increasingly anxious for the boy's safety, a crane fortuitously passed by the scene. Seizing the opportunity, Mr. He and others flagged down the crane, urgently informing the driver of the situation above.

The crane operator, a man in his 50s, swiftly manoeuvred the crane to the building, extending its long arm to reach the trapped boy. A man wearing a safety helmet climbed onto the crane's hook and was hoisted up to the boy's window. He quickly removed the security bars and rescued the boy, carrying him down to safety amidst cheers from the relieved crowd.

"He's a very kind person," Mr. He remarked about the crane operator, who, along with the rescuer, left the scene shortly after the rescue, just as firefighters arrived to extinguish the blaze.

It was revealed that while the boy was being rescued by the crane, his siblings, a 12-year-old sister and his 10-year-old twin brother, were also trapped inside the apartment. Four other Good Samaritans had rushed in, wielding fire extinguishers and axes, and managed to break down the door to rescue them.

The children, whose parents work out of town and were being cared for by their grandmother, who had briefly stepped out, were fortunately unharmed.

Local officials arrived promptly to provide support to the siblings, finding them temporary accommodation in a nearby hotel and issuing them a modest stipend for immediate needs as their relatives gathered to offer further support.
