Dramatic moment train slams into tricycle injuring three people
This is the dramatic moment a train slammed into a tricycle injuring three people in the Philippines.
CCTV footage shows the Philippine National Railways (PNR) train honking its horn as the oncoming tricycle drove over the tracks in Camalig town, Albay province, on June 19.
The tricycle driver tried to back up, but his sidecar was struck by the thundering train.
The passenger Flor, 58, her grandchild, one, and the driver, Tikboy, were flung from the overturned tricycle as shocked locals rushed over to help them.
They were taken to a hospital and have reportedly negotiated with PNR management for compensation.
Ameldo Navia, village chief of Taladong where the collision occurred, blamed the crash on the lack of crossing guards.
He added that it was the second such train accident in the area - with both instances involving the same tricycle driver.
Tikboy has been discharged from the hospital while Flor and her grandchild are still confined.
The PNR's Albay-Camarines Sur route was reopened in 2023 after being left idle for around six years. However, the tracks, which now pass near more populated areas, have become accident-prone due to poor safety measures and lack of warning signs.
