This is the terrifying moment a two-storey structure collapsed due to heavy rainfall in India.

Footage shows the old building that was undergoing repairs suddenly toppling over in Mahendru Enclave, Model Town, North West Delhi, on Saturday, August 10.

The structure was an ancient banquet hall, according to residents living opposite.

After witnessing the collapse, the neighbour left the scene, noting that his child had sustained some scratches.

Reports indicated several individuals were trapped under the debris while repairs were underway.

Officials believe the wall had been weakened by recent heavy rain that has battered the city, causing widespread flash floods.

In a separate incident in the Dichaon region of Delhi the day before, a wall of an MCD school and an uprooted tree fell on two individuals, causing injuries.

The heavy rainfall led to the uprooting of an old, large Neem tree, which then fell on the MCD school wall. The tree and the wall subsequently collapsed on two motorcyclists seeking shelter from the rain, as confirmed by a police official.
