A brave man saved a six-year-old girl from danger after she became stuck in the burglar bars at the family home in China.

While playing, the girl found herself in a dangerous situation in Hechi City, Guangxi Autonomous Region, on August 11.

She slipped and was then left dangling by her head outside the second-floor window. Some residents quickly arranged a mattress below to soften any potential fall.

The girl's younger brother grabbed her tightly and held onto her after attempting to pull her to the top but failing.

Recognising the urgency, one neighbour took swift action, using a kitchen knife to cut through the railing beneath her. He climbed onto the security net and successfully pushed the girl to safety.

At the time, the girl was under the care of her hard-of-hearing grandfather, who was occupied with a phone conversation while her parents were at work.

Shortly after the rescue, the girl's father arrived home and met the young man who had saved her, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the timely intervention that saved his daughter from serious harm.
