Terrifying moment planes are rocked as they try to land in extreme 50mph Storm Lilian crosswinds at Birmingham Airport

This was the terrifying moment two commercial airliners were thrown around in the sky like a toy's.

Extreme 50mph crosswinds buffeted the aircrafts from side to side as they approached Birmingham International Airport on Friday 23 August.

The pilots from Loganair and aer Lingus skilfully brought each plane in, some of whom were 'crabbing' a maneuver to bring the plane in sideways into the wind before correcting the route at the last second before touchdown.

The Loganair plane took off from Aberdeen and the aer Lingus aircraft from Belfast, both routed to Birmingham's BHX Airport.

As the planes touched down, some of them were tipped sideways and down towards the ground by gusts of wind, causing the wings to dip.

Storm Lilian has hit mainly Northern parts of the UK and wind speeds have to hit 80mph in some areas.
