A 20-year-old woman was rescued after she fall into the Ganges river in Patna whilst taking a selfie.

The woman named Neeta was unconscious when she was eventually pulled from the river. She was taken to hospital for treatment.

In a dramatic turn of events, a 20 years old young woman, Neetu Kumari, fell into the Ganga River at 12:10 pm while taking a selfie in northern India’s Bihar.

The incident took place in Mahatma Gandhi Setu in Patna on August 26.

Visuals showed how amidst the roaring currents of the Ganga, the SSB jawan heroically leaping from a boat, throwing a float tube to the struggling woman. Battling the fierce waters, he skillfully pulls her closer using ropes, securing her on the live boat just moments before she could drown.

According to reports, the 20-year-old, who had come to the city for a constable recruitment exam, plummeted nearly 15 feet into the river. Fortunately, alert SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal) jawans stationed at Gai Ghat acted swiftly to save her.

As the strong currents of the Ganga began to carry her away, onlookers raised the alarm. SSB Sub Inspector Ajit Kumar Jadeja and his team immediately launched a rescue operation. A soldier jumped into the river with a rope, reached the struggling woman, and safely brought her aboard a rescue boat. Neetu was unconscious when she was pulled from the water and was quickly taken to NMCH (Nalanda Medical College and Hospital) for treatment.

The timely intervention by the SSB soldiers averted what could have been a tragic accident.
