On September 27 Friday earlier morning A bridge connecting Pirpanty and Babupur in Bhagalpur district of Bihar collapsed affecting more than one lakh population in the area.

District Magistrate Nawal Kishore Chaudhary has ordered the officials to raise barricade on both sides of collapsed bridge to stop movement of vehicles and pedestrians.

prompting opposition parties alleging of huge corruption in the Nitish Kumar government which resulted in use of poor quality construction materials in infrastructural development works.

Congress MLA Ajit Sharma alleged widespread corruption and other irregularities in construction of bridge which led to its collapse. Locals were facing hardship due to use of poor quality materials in construction of bridge and strict action should be taken against those found responsible for bridge collapse, he demanded.

Leader of the opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejaswi Prasad Yadav said that there was deep rooted corruption in Nitish Kumar government. While there was the deep rooted corruption in administration, pillars of the bridges were shaky having no depth in ground which were resulting in a series of collapses, he alleged.

It was strange to note that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had not uttered even a single word on collapse of bridges, he remarked.

As it is, more than one dozen bridges had collapsed during monsoon in Siwan, Saran, Madhubani, Araria, East Champaran and Kishanganj districts of Bihar this year.
