More and more Chinese photovoltaic firms are globalizing their production operations to better meet growing overseas demand for solar power.
Shanghai-based Jinko Solar, for instance, has recently announced plans to build a solar cell and module manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia.
It will be the company's fourth overseas unit after those in Malaysia, Vietnam and the United States, and is expected to further strengthen the firm’s position in the global market.

Wei Tian, head of investor relations, office of the board, Jinko Solar:
"Recently, the company has also signed an agreement with overseas shareholders to jointly build and operate a 10GW high-efficiency solar cell and module project in Saudi Arabia. Scheduled to begin production in early 2026, this project will effectively meet the demand for high-end products in Central Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas, and further bolster our global competitiveness."

Those in the industry believe the move towards globalized production represents a win-win for all sides involved.

Lan Tianshi, Co-CEO, GCL Technology:
"Countries across the world, including those in Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas, all hope to have local energy production. They want us to go abroad to establish facilities and production there, and hope to collaborate with us on the technology. They’ve become more willing to use or are more open to using products manufactured through cooperation with China."

Data shows that China currently dominates the global solar manufacturing industry, accounting for more than 80 percent of worldwide production.
