[Voiceover] For these AI-powered glasses that can be used as a personal assistant, taking pictures is just one basic and easy function of them. [Soundbite] Tong Luyao, Co-founder, Zhejiang Entertech Co., Ltd.: "Hi Memo. What are you seeing now? Where am I?" [Soundbite] Memo, Looktech AI Assistant: "This is a display wall in an eyewear store, neatly arranged with various styles of eyeglass frames. The lighting is bright, and the overall design has a modern aesthetic." [Soundbite] Tong Luyao, Co-founder, Zhejiang Entertech Co., Ltd.: "Our AI assistant is called 'Memo,' which comes from the English word 'memory.' It can assist you in daily life based on what you see through the glasses, and it can store your memories—remembering everything you see and hear. As it learns more about you and accumulates more memories, it can even evolve into your digital twin." [Voiceover] In January 2025, these smart glasses from China made their debut at International Consumer Electronics Show in the US, capturing global attention. As a specialist in brain-computer interface technology, Entertech initiated development of this AI-powered eyewear in 2023, partnering with Wenzhou's leading eyewear manufacturer. By July, the first batch of LookTech glasses valued at 9 million yuan will ship to North American markets, marking a powerful collaboration between digital intelligence enterprises and traditional eyewear manufacturing. The large markets of smart glasses have enabled traditional enterprises to see more growth. Ouhai Glasses has cooperated with Entertech in 2023 and built a 3,000-square-meter smart production facility. [Soundbite] Wang Fenghua, Chief Executive Officer, Wenzhou Ouhai Glasses Co., Ltd.: "This is our new smart production line - which represents China's first eyewear production line with electronic production within the industry. Currently, our facility produces over 200 pairs of smart glasses daily, with annual mass production capacity reaching 150,000 units. At full operational capacity, this production line is projected to increase our company's output value by 15 percent - significant efficiency gains." [Voiceover] This eyewear factory is just one of over 500 such enterprises in Ouhai District of Wenzhou, which has become one of the world's leading eyewear production hubs. In 2018, Ouhai Economic Development Zone established a specialized Glasses Town that clusters upstream and downstream manufacturers, with over 80 percent of its products exported to more than 100 countries and regions. The collaboration between traditional manufacturing and high-tech empowerment has injected new vitality into this town, enabling it to navigate this year's tariff challenges. [Soundbite] Xie Dong, Director, Administration Committee, Ouhai Economic Development Zone, Zhejiang Province: "While U.S. tariffs have indeed impacted the eyewear industry, Ouhai's eyewear exports have bucked the trend with continued growth. From January to June this year, Ouhai District's foreign trade exports maintained growth at around 7 percent. In fact, Ouhai's eyewear enterprises had strategically diversified years earlier through technological upgrades, production capacity expansion, talent acquisition, and partnerships with tech innovators like EnterTech. For the high-quality productive forces, Ouhai stands fully prepared." [Voiceover] According to the company, LookTech glasses will soon expand to Japan, Australia, and more global markets. Meanwhile, its smart manufacturing facility in Wenzhou is set to undergo expansion for more overseas orders in the coming years. [Restrictions: No access Chinese mainland]
