Russia claims it destroyed Ukrainian strongholds and equipment in Kursk region using tanks
Russia claimed it destroyed Ukrainian strongholds and equipment in the Kursk border region using tanks.
Footage shows a Russian tank opening fire on unseen targets from a camouflaged position.
The Russian Ministry of Defence said: 'Jointly with reconnaissance groups and unmanned aerial vehicles, the tank crews of the 'Sever' troop grouping are providing support to motorised rifle and assault units in the border area of the Kursk region. They are destroying strongholds, positions, combat equipment, and personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
'The tank crews are firing at identified targets from concealed firing positions at distances of up to 7 kilometres. To adjust their fire, the military personnel are using unmanned aerial vehicles.
'To make it difficult for the enemy to detect their positions, the tank crews carefully camouflage their equipment. For additional protection against enemy drones, metal anti-drone protection is installed on the tanks.
'While the tank crews are engaging enemy fortifications, the assault units of the 'Sever' troop grouping are advancing.
'After firing, the tank crews change positions to avoid retaliatory fire from enemy artillery or attacks by kamikaze drones.
'Additional security for the tank crews is provided by a covering group: motorised riflemen monitor the airspace and are ready to confront enemy groups if they come nearby.
'All military personnel have combat experience from various fronts of the Special Military Operation (SMO) and are well aware of how the enemy operates.
'The tank crews are prepared for extensive operations. The successful completion of tasks is aided by comprehensive and timely provision of ammunition, fuel, and equipment. All necessary parts, spare parts, and munitions are available. Timely delivery of everything required in sufficient quantities is ensured by the logistical support units of the grouping. In support of the soldiers, unmanned aerial vehicles conduct reconnaissance every day, identifying new targets, and in the event of a decision to strike, they adjust the artillery fire.'
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation'.
The conflict is still ongoing with public support from Europe and the United States fading and businesses reopening their ties with Russia.
Deserters have fled both countries for safer climbs in Europe and Asia.
