A woman was rescued from a 20ft deep manhole in California.

Firemen from the San Bernardino County Fire and Urban Search and Rescue Team retrieved the victim trapped inside the hole on November 20.

Local media reported that a passerby heard the woman's screams after she had fallen into the pit the previous night.

Footage shows firefighters setting up a 100ft (30m) aerial ladder into the manhole. The authorities reportedly retrieved the woman in under 90 minutes, with no injuries sustained by the rescuers.

They then secured the manhole after the rescue.

She reportedly suffered multiple musculoskeletal injuries and was transported to a trauma centre in moderate condition.
