This is the shocking moment a landslide swept through homes during Cyclone Fengal in India.

CCTV footage shows rapid water and accumulated debris surging down a 2,668 ft (813 m) set of steps amid severe rainfall in Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu, on December 1.

Local media reported that thick mud and boulders buried a home, tragically killing seven residents who were trapped inside.

Authorities identified the deceased as Rajkumar, his wife Meena, 27, their son Gowtham, 8, daughter Viniya, 5, Ramya, 7, Vinodhini, 16, and Maha, 7.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced that the storm over northern coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry moved westward and weakened by the early morning of December 3.

Chief Minister N. Rangaswamy has allocated cash relief to Puducherry residents, while the Indian Army and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are conducting rescue operations for 200 families stranded by the cyclone.

Cyclone Fengal claimed the lives of 20 individuals and displaced more than 400,000 families in Sri Lanka, forcing them to seek refuge in evacuation centres.
