Water tower collapses after crane arm snaps, killing 1 worker in China
Around 11 am on December 12, near Jianghua Community in the Longquanyi District of Chengdu, Sichuan Province, an accident occurred during the dismantling of a water tower, resulting in the death of a worker.
Video footage shows that during the dismantling process, the mechanical arm of a construction crane suddenly broke. The broken arm collapsed along with the top section of the water tower, creating a massive cloud of dust at the site.
The accident injured a worker involved in dismantling the water tower. Despite rescue efforts by emergency medical personnel, the worker was pronounced dead.
Preliminary assessments suggest the accident was caused by a sudden mechanical failure of the crane arm. The exact cause is still under investigation.
