A pair of fighting bulls crashed into a vendor's cart - spilling dozens of litres of milk onto the street.

The enraged male bovines locked horns in a market in Madhya Pradesh, India, on December 25.

Footage shows the bulls trying to wrestle each other. Sellers sprayed water on them and tried to separate them with a long stick, but to no avail.

They chased the pair along the street and scared them away, but one of the bulls nudged a large container spilling 40 litres of milk on the ground.

Two motorcycles were also damaged, although no one else was hurt, and the cows fled the area.

India has hundreds of thousands of cows roaming its streets.

It is party due to devout locals who follow Hindu customs, with cows regarded as sacred animals that cannot be eaten or slaughtered once they have stopped producing milk. The majority of states ban the sale or slaughter of cows.

Instead of dealing with the economic burden of keeping their spent cattle, many farmers let the beasts roam the streets - leading to chaos when the animals become agitated and turn their fury on humans.
