This is the dramatic moment stray bulls caused chaos as they fought in the middle of a street in India.

Footage shows the pair of horned beasts brawling on the busy road in Pathankot, Punjab, on September 30.

The animals can be seen butting heads before the black and white bull suddenly charges at the animal.

In the scuffle, the black bovine crashes into a stationary electric rickshaw, sending the visibly frightened rider tumbling onto the road to escape.

The pair then bolt away unfazed, while other motorists quickly keep their distance to avoid getting caught in the commotion.

No injuries were reported following the encounter.

India has hundreds of thousands of cows roaming its streets.

It is partly due to devout locals who follow Hindu customs, with cows regarded as sacred animals that cannot be eaten or slaughtered once they have stopped producing milk. The majority of states ban the sale or slaughter of cows.

Instead of dealing with the economic burden of keeping their spent cattle, many farmers let the beasts roam the streets - leading to chaos when the animals become agitated and turn their fury on humans.
