Hungry wild elephant rummages through trash left outside restaurant
A hungry elephant rummaged through restaurant bins looking for food.
The ravenous jumbo wandered over to the Very Thai-Esan BBQ Restaurant in search of a snack in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, on January 27.
Footage shows the beast walking on the pavement while diners stood still to prevent it from getting startled.
In another clip, it can be seen pilfering through the garbage area and seemingly munching on its found food.
Elephants are known for their voracious appetite. The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) found need to eat up to 150 kg of food per day - the equivalent of 375 tins of baked beans
Conservationists in Thailand say that wild elephants - up to 3,500 of them - have even developed a taste for human food and prefer to rummage through homes and vehicles for snacks, instead of the bland leaves they find in the forest.
