Manhole cover launched like projectile after being run over, pierces car windscreen
Around 10 a.m. on March 27, in Shenyang, Liaoning, a white SUV was driving normally when its right rear wheel accidentally ran over a manhole cover at an intersection. The manhole cover was suddenly forced upward, launching into the air like a projectile and striking the windshield of a BYD sedan that was driving behind. The impact caused part of the manhole cover to embed into the windshield, shattering it into a spiderweb pattern.

After the accident, traffic police quickly arrived at the scene to handle the situation. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and only the vehicle sustained damage.

Staff from the Huanggu branch of the Shenyang Water Group rushed to the scene for inspection and confirmed that the manhole cover was under their maintenance jurisdiction. They stated that they would take responsibility for subsequent compensation matters.
