At around 9:15 AM on February 20, a mother brought her sick daughter to Changxing County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital in Zhejiang for treatment. While waiting in the outpatient corridor on the second floor, the child suddenly began choking, putting her life in danger.

Panicked, the mother dropped to her knees, desperately observing her daughter's condition while shouting for help, hoping a doctor would come to their aid.

Male nurse Han Yongbin was nearby when he heard the cries for help echoing through the corridor. Without hesitation, he rushed over.

He saw the child’s eyes rolling back, lips turning blue, and vomit and secretions covering her mouth and clothes. Realizing the severity of the situation, he immediately took action.

Han quickly adjusted his position, cleared the child’s airway, and placed her face-down across his leg. Using the base of his palm, he firmly but rhythmically struck between her shoulder blades.

Moments later, the child coughed up secretions, easing her choking. However, she remained weak, with shallow breathing and sluggish responses.

Determined to get her immediate professional care, Han cradled the child in his right arm while continuously patting her back with his left, sprinting at full speed toward the emergency rescue station.

A medical team comprising obstetrics, emergency, and pediatrics specialists quickly assembled to take over the life-saving efforts.

Thanks to their coordinated efforts, the child finally let out a loud cry, signaling she was out of danger.

Following timely intervention, her condition stabilized. Overwhelmed with gratitude, the mother expressed her heartfelt thanks to Han Yongbin and the hospital’s emergency team.

Han later remarked that he was simply acting on instinct as a medical professional and that seeing a patient recover was the greatest reward.
