Villagers took shelter as a sudden storm hit a neighbourhood in Thailand.

CCTV footage shows the locals standing in the patio before a powerful squall blasted Nong Bua Lamphu on April 19.

The terrified residents retreated into their home as the winds toppled plastic chairs and an electric fan.

Local officials said the storm damaged 30 houses and uprooted trees and electric posts in three villages.

The Thai Meteorological Department today, April 21, warned of extremely high temperatures, isolated thunderstorms, and gusty winds in northern Thailand.

The agency said the weather conditions were caused by a low-pressure system caused by heat, and southerly and southwesterly winds blowing across the region.
