A Weapons Haul has been recovered by officers after 7 people were arrested in the early morning raid in Birmingham on Wednesday.

At least three guns have were found during a raid on a Birmingham Gulf petrol station and adjoining businesses on Wednesday 7th May.

Officers were seen to recover a silver revolver, sawn-off shotgun and either a tactical shotgun or assault rifle with a red dot Hawke sight attached.

The weapons were all taken from several scrap cars on the side of Clayton Road in the Saltley area of the city by specialist firearms officers.

Four baseball bats were also bagged up and retained as evidence in the weapons cache. The petrol station, which also fronts Washwood Heath Road was completely cordoned off with detectives and officers wearing stab vests searching and guarding several shops.

Forensic officers in white suits photographed the firearms and detectives removed several computers from each building.

West Midlands Police said in a statement: ‘We’ve recovered several firearms and arrested seven people in a raid on a petrol station complex in Birmingham today.

‘Firearms officers, drones officers, dog handlers, and officers from the Organised Crime and Gangs team were among those who swooped on the Gulf petrol station and associated buildings on Washwood Heath Road at around 2.30am today.

‘Two stun guns and a number of other weapons were all recovered, along with shotgun cartridges, and a large number of knives and machetes.

‘The weapons are all being examined as the investigation continues.

‘Seven men aged in their 20s, 30s and 40s were arrested on suspicion of a range of offences and remain in custody this afternoon.’

Detective Chief Inspector Sara Beech, from the Birmingham Organised Crime and Gangs Team, said: ‘This is one of the biggest warrants of its kind that we’ve carried out in years, and it’s great to have recovered so many firearms in one go.

‘We will not stop in our pursuit of criminals who access and use firearms, which cause so much misery to our communities.’
