The Indonesian Quarantine Agency (Barantin) destroyed 2.9 tons of uncertified wild boar meat with an estimated value of around IDR 200 million at the Cilegon Animal Quarantine Installation, Banten on May 9, 2025.

This destruction is a follow-up to the success of the Banten Animal, Fish, Plant Quarantine Agency (Karantina Banten) in thwarting the entry of undocumented animal derivative commodities from Seputih Raman, Central Lampung, to Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan, using a goods truck.

The wild boar meat was also not equipped with an animal product sanitation certificate. Based on Article 35 of Law Number 21 of 2019, every entry and exit of animal, fish, and plant carriers between areas must be accompanied by a health certificate, carried out through a designated place, and reported and submitted to quarantine officers.

Ahead of the 2025 Eid al-Adha celebration, Indonesian Quarantine is strengthening supervision of livestock, agricultural, and fishery commodity traffic at all entry and exit points in Indonesia.

This effort is a constitutional mandate to prevent the entry, spread, and exit of pests and diseases of animals, fish, and plant pests, while maintaining the quality and safety of domestic food. Barantin emphasized its commitment to ensuring that animal-derived food circulating in the community meets the principles of Safe, Healthy, Whole, and Halal, as well as preventing the transmission of diseases from animals to humans (zoonosis) ahead of Eid al-Adha 2025.
