Special forces soldiers rescued a goat stranded in a canal in southern Thailand.

The troops were patrolling a village in Narathiwat searching for explosives when they suddenly heard a loud bleating from a goat on April 25.

Curious and concerned, the team decided to investigate the area where they found the farm animal stuck in a canal, unable to climb out.

At the time, the area was surrounded only by children, with no adults nearby to assist. The soldiers then quickly decided to step in and help.

Dramatic footage shows one of the military personnel climbing down onto a rock ledge above the canal and carefully reaching out to pull the distressed goat from the water.

Once the creature was safely back on the ground, it immediately ran off in fear and disappeared.

Narathiwat is one of the three southernmost provinces in Thailand - along with Yala and Pattani - that have experienced an ongoing insurgency since 2004. This conflict involves separatist groups seeking greater autonomy for the Malay Muslim population in the region. The violence has resulted in significant casualties and widespread instability.
