A stray dog was seen swimming across a crocodile-infested river to reach tourists and ask them for food.

Footage shows the Aspin pooch floating through 10ft deep water towards the other side in Nueva Ecija, the Philippines.

It took the canine less than a minute before it successfully crossed.

The mutt then walked uphill to the bridge, where residents had been watching it wade in the water.

Nelson San Pedro said: 'We were on our way home from sightseeing when we saw the dog. It was a very wide river. We were scared because it was deep.

'There might have been crocodiles there, but thankfully it was safe.'

Nelson and his friend gave the stray some snacks and led it back to the village unhurt on May 9.
