Officer Rolls Out in Cardboard Cruiser to Patrol Campus
THIBODAUX, La. — School Resource Officer Sergeant Jamie Himel of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office made his final school patrol of the year one to remember—cruising E.D. White Catholic High’s campus in a handmade police car.
The custom creation, built by students and teachers in the school’s EDW C.A.R.E.S. program, was shared on social media by both the school and the sheriff’s office, delighting viewers and spreading smiles to close out the academic year.
“Ever wonder how School Resource Officers ‘patrol’ campus?” the sheriff’s office joked in its Instagram caption, showing Sergeant Himel behind the wheel of the student-crafted patrol vehicle.
The creative gesture highlighted the strong relationship between law enforcement and the school community.
