A frightening near-miss occurred overnight on I-95 in Florida, where a Volusia Sheriff’s Office sergeant and a Florida Highway Patrol trooper narrowly escaped being struck while responding to a crash involving a vehicle and a deer.

While assisting at the scene, an SUV veered off the highway, nearly hitting both officers. The SUV struck the VSO patrol vehicle, slammed into the rear of the car involved in the initial crash, and then spun back onto the interstate, where it finally came to rest. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers first responders face. Authorities urge drivers to remain alert for emergency lights and to always move over for law enforcement, service vehicles, and disabled motorists.
